Maidhof Bros.Shipware was established in 1968 by Captain Lou Maidhof and his three sons, Vic, Bill and Paul. After 35 years as a merchant marine who had worked his way up the ranks from engine room wiper and a deck hand to Captain and or Chief Engineer, his retirement was spent salvaging ships rather then sailing them. For many years Maidhof Bros. Shipware procured "heavy marine salvage" and supplied marine companies with large anchors, chain, engine parts, heavy hardware, water tight doors etc.. Most of the above was removed from WW2 surplus
ships under the breakers torch. Now days the companies specialty is primarily "light salvage". Ships wheels, brass portholes, ships teak and mahogany furniture, nautical decorative items, navigation instruments, compasses, binnacles, vintage ships lamps and lanterns, manila rope and lines, small anchors, brass bells of every size and description.
