THE CARGO LIST

Avast Mateys ! ....Maidhof Bros. Ltd has been dealing in nautical antiques, collectibles and salvage in San Diego, California since 1968. Thirty of those years from the same location....Over time we have learned a couple of important things. ...First....Our customers usually know more then us, so we keep the mouth shut and the ears open.... Second.... We always treat our customers exactly how we would treat ourselves, it's easier that way......that is how we do business at Maidhof Bros. Ltd.

FYI: This website was created in 1995 when the internet was in it's infancy....At that time it was the first nautical collectibles website in the world. It is designed after the original booklet version of The Cargo List that was produced and mailed to our customers for 25 years.

  2. U.S.Navy WW2 Gimbaled Stick Barometer....Authentic Vintage solid brass USN "stick" barometer that measures 38 inches long overall. Naval navigation instrument is still mounted on it's original factory backboard. Hard to find collectors item has the original glass mercury tube intact, no mercury inside. This was usually done with mercury instruments when they where mothballed or sent to surplus. No makers plate attached but this is not surprising. During WW2 manufacturers did not put their location on their producst during war time. Gimbaled barometer can be stowed in rough weather position or hinged out for reading purposes where it rests secure on gimbals. The gimbals keep the barometer level as the ship rolls and pitches......No price at the moment..I like it to much.......Photo 1.....Photo 2.....Photo 3....Photo 4....Photo 5....

  4. ... USN Mark V WW2 Era Diving Helmet........An authentic USN Mark V Diving helmet originally built Feb. 22, 1943 serial number 894, as a fully equipped USN Standard Diving Helmet... and later updated by commercial divers. Helmet was actually in use up until several years ago. Diving helmets that have been worked commercially see many changes over years of use. This piece weighs just about 45 lbs and breaks down to two pieces, which will make it safer and easier to ship..The original window guards were good protection but hampered vision. When former USN helmets were used by commercial divers it was common for them to pull of the guards to help them see better underwater. The air supply to the helmet has been remodeled as well...the air feeds from the top area of the front port closer to the divers face, which made it more comfortable to use and minimized condensation on the front port. The brails are aluminum, not brass, and Morse Diving equipment company as said the brass brail bar can be purchased as well as the window guards and glass...You can also buy brail nuts as five are missing...Cost for all via Morse about $ 650.00 for all four windows and nuts but add $ 350.00 for brail...but all in all I think it looks just great the way it is and is a great piece......SOLD!!!....Photo 1....Photo 2......Photo 3..Photo 4....Photo 5.....
