The Maidhof crew has just acquired a huge load of block and tackle pulleys, rope and other movie prop rigging from Disneys Pirates of the Carribean third movie" At Worlds End". We have over 200 different pieces. All pulleys were built and aged in movie prop fashion in order to look good on film. These pulleys will fall apart if you try to use them to lift or hang heavy objects so they are for decoration purposes as well as collectors pieces from the movies. ....Vintage Ships Switchboard SS Lady of Mann 1929....
A rare one of a kind telephone collectible... The ships phone switchboard salvaged from the TSS Lady of Mann built in 1929 and scrapped in the early 1970's in Glasgow Scotland. Solid teakwood phone system is big, salty looking and quite heavy. Measures 22 1/2 x 31 by 10 inches deep and is double hinged. The front hinges allow the glass cabinet door to open and the back hinges allow access to the telephone wiring, bulbs, contacts etc..seen in the photos above..The switchboard originally had two telephones that fit in cradles on each side..the one phone in the photos is all that is left and the ear and mouth piece are badly broken..you will have to supply your own vintage operator phones for this unit. This instrument was mounted up in the wheelhouse or bridge on the " dead center" line of the ship. A simple but effective method of keeping the ship level when loading cargo....Good sized setup measures 14x17 inches overall, polished and lacquer coated clinometer itself is 12x14 1/4 and about 1 1/4 inches thick overall. ......US Military Ships Bell....This is a glorius sounding solid brass military ships bell. Navy bells say USN but the army and other braches of the military have ships with bells as well. ...Ships Binnacle:..... A beautifully restored show piece of nautical ships equipment. The ships binnacle is a finely tuned and adjusted tool of navigation which houses the ships compass. This fine binnacle was made by the Northern Electric Co. in Montreal Canada. The compass inside was made by the Lionel Company with a date of 1944 on it. The base of the binnacle is made of solid teak and solid brass. A very sturdy and heavy hunk of marine salvage. It measures 52 inches tall x 28 inches wide with a mahogany base that measures 21 inches x 22 inches. A 50 inch helm/wheel mounted on top of a custom lathed line rolling pin and a large bronze propellar. The base is made of solid mahogany and laced with more brass. This table stands 18 inches tall. .....Authentic Engine Order Telegraph.......A beautifully restored A. Robinson engine order telegraph made of solid brass. A. Robinson & Co. LTD were established in 1760 in Liverpool and Glasgow. This E.O.T still rings bells and measures 50 inches tall from the deck to the top of the lever. It has a 12 inch diameter face and is bolted down to a slab of solid mahogany. .... Glorius Ships Porthole........A heavy solid bronze porthole with bullet proof brass cover. Very heavy and solid measuring about 17 inches in diameter with 12 inch diameter glass. The glass itself has got to be a 1/2 inch thick on this one as well. I believe this was a war time navy ship porthole as it has a thick brass protection cover that opens and closes over the glass. .....WW2 Lifeboat Compass....A US Navy WW2 lifeboat compass made by John E. Hand and Sons. This compass has been decked out for display aboard the finest of yachts and is actually a small compact ships binnacle. It has a door that opens on the side to adjust the true north as ships binnacles do. Originally this binnacle compass was stored in a copper can or a canvass bag aboard a lifeboat for emergency use. They were also painted navy flat black. There are no makers marks on this one as it was customary for the US Navy to hide the makers for war time contracts. Measures 4.5" in diameter and 5" tall. This is a compass designed to be on a lifeboat or smaller vessel and ready to be used in case of an emergency or backup, hence the safe keeping teakwood box.. In our restoration workshop stand two metal turning lathes, two metal grinding machines, a giant double wheeled 14 inch diameter polishing mandel, two vintage USN surplus table saws, two well used band saws, two types of hardwood planers, two air compressors, two floor belt sanders, three drill presses, two wood cutoff saws, one metal cutoff saw and about ten hundred hand tools...some days they all seem to be running all at the same time too ....We refinish all our hardwoods by HAND....NO SPRAY..We perform BRIGHT WORK, not quicky spray work...We do it the old fashioned way and there are no shortcuts. We grind, sand then polish our brass and then... we painstakingly lacquer coat it to protect all of our work... I.E. this porthole with ships steel bulkhead still attached...well... when where finished with performing our magic...hold on to your slickers matey, because It will be transformed into a piece of maritime furniture that will make your landlubber eyes water with delight......Like I said, we sell only collectibles in shipshape condition with 1st class service....nothing less.
